Singapore’s only Wedding Venue that is both a Church & a Castle
did you watch crazy rich asians and DREAMT OF HAVING THAT ONE WEDDING SCENE BE YOURS TOO?
CHIJ Chapel, now known as CHIJMES Hall is the epitome of royal & elegance to create the wedding of your dreams. The building was built to be a modern heritage wedding venue that showcases a stunning precinct restored to its former architectural glory. The interior space elegantly lit up with an array of crystal chandeliers, with its gothic styled arches, high ceiling and filtered lights falling gently through the finest stained glass windows - offering our wedding couples and guests a grand yet romantic ambience with regal charm, an experience that will be sure to last a life-time.
THE CRAZY RICH ASIAN MOVIE SET
Did you also know that the popular film, "Crazy Rich Asians (CRA)", had their cathedral scene filmed at the CHIJMES Hall. Crazy right? We find it absolutely jaw-dropping to see how the movie set crew transformed our local heritage building into such a grand splendour. A question that we had been asked many times was, how can our couples get that water aisle similar to CRA? However, we're sorry to break the news to you guys, but the water scene in the move was actually made with Computer-generated imagery (CGI)!
If you are looking for that water aisle, you can instead consider 1-Altitude Coast!
However, if you are looking for a romantic yet royal celebration, CHIJMES Hall will definitely be at our team's top of the list for venue suggestions! Boasting a seating capacity of 300pax, CHIJMES hold no limitations as to how grand you want your wedding to be.
Another thing that many couples ask us about is, if CHIJMES is a church? As we have met many non-religious couples with CHIJMES being their dream venue, but felt restricted considering how CHIJMES stand similar to a church architecture. However, in contrast to that belief, CHIJMES is simply a historic building complex in Singapore but holds similarities to a church due to its origin of a Catholic convent known as the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ) but have been restored since.
Another similar venue to CHIJMES is The Secret Haven, located at Mt Sophia.
*Pro-tip: CHIJMES allow for your photographers / videographers to head up to the 2nd level for birds eye view shots during your wedding! Just simply ask the coordinators present on site, and they will likely allow for permission as long as you hand a SGD$50 deposit in exchange for the keycard access to the top floor.
WHAT IF I WANT A SIMPLE WEDDING AT CHIJMES?
Of course! It is YOUR wedding after all! Weddings are not just about the grand romance between two people getting married - they are also celebrating family and friends. With the luxury and fluidity of time, the opportunity to build relationships, bond and share love notes were aplenty. The best thing about CHIJMES is it will look stunning no matter how simple or grand your celebration is!
LUNA COUPLES AT CHIJMES
Against the old-world backdrop of the former chapel decorated, Jason & Elaine strolled down the aisle in a white satin trumpet bespoke gown with a sweetheart neckline from Luna Bianca Bridal Boutique, adorned in intricate lace applique and beading.
First dance as a newly wedded, wearing Emanuel B. Couture bespoke qipao for the first newly wedded dance. The first dance between the bride and groom is the most awaited moment for the newly wed as well as the guests. It shows the love and unity between the new couple. The way of dancing, expression and the dancing steps reveal the harmony between the bride and groom. Choosing to have the courage, Elaine describes the experience as liberating, despite being a little nervous.
Dream bigger, regret lesser!
